Description: The Newark Senior Center will be hosting their 5th Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Sunday, February 12, 2012. At the event attendees will receive a handmade bowl or mug donated by local potters and art students and an all you can eat buffet of soups, bread and desserts donated by local restaurants. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the Newark Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program.
Each year the Newark Senior Center Meals on Wheels program provides over 35,000 meals to homebound seniors in the Greater Newark area. These meals are delivered by a group of dedicated volunteers who not only provide clients with a hot meal each day, but also provide a way to check in on those who are home alone and may otherwise not have contact with the outside world.

Annual Greek Festival at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church starts on June 1, 2010! June 2010 - Wilmington, Delaware - Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church invites the communityto celebrate its annual Greek Festival, Tuesday June 1 - Friday June 4, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., at 9thand Broom Streets in Wilmington.Visitors will enjoy homemade Greek food and desserts, ethnic music and dance performances by the Award Winning Terpsechorian Dance Troupe. Admission is free. Experience a bit of Greece and enjoy the food, fun and family features that the Greek Festival has tooffer. Enjoy popular Greek foods like gyro and souvlaki under a warm summer sky. Homemade traditional comfort foods like mousaka, pastichio, dolmades and spanokopita are served in the Hellenic Community Center from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. everyday. For the sweet tooth, go right for dessert and grab a bowl of the ever popular loukoumades. Philadelphia’s Atlantis will be performing live Greek music nightly. Come celebrate their 25th appearance at the festival. If you like to see traditional outfits, as well as dances, the Terpsechorian Troupe will perform at 7:30 p.m. on the south grounds and 8:30 p.m., on the main grounds. There will be kids entertainment on the south grounds for our younger friends and visitors. Spiros Mantzavinos, Holy Trinity’s Festival Coordinator, says, “The Greek Festival blends everything that Greeks truly believe in, food, dancing, family and friends. Come and join us as we extend our invitation to the community for one of the best 4 day festivals in the area.” Lunch at the festival is more convenient than ever! Free shuttle service will be available from 9th and Market Tuesday, June 1 through Friday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch. For those who can not dine-in for lunch, we are offering a new service of curbside pick up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. everyday. This includes the menu of our takeout booth only.
