Organic Peanut Butter

Peanut butter has long been a favorite pantry staple. In fact, Americans eat enough peanut butter each year to make more than 10 billion peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. But peanut butter can be enjoyed many more ways than in a sandwich. Smucker’s is celebrating Natural Peanut Month by encouraging consumers to try unique recipes like the Peanut Butter Salad Dressing and Cream of Peanut Soup featured earlier this month. The company makes both smooth and chunky organic peanut butter. There are many ways to enjoy organic peanut butter. Spread it on apples and celery for a quick snack, or try adding it to some of your favorite desserts or savory dishes. You may notice that peanut oil sometimes rises to the top of the jar. This occurs naturally, and the oil simply needs to be stirred to fully enjoy the product. “Peanut butter provides a variety of healthful benefits for children and adults and is one of the few foods that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or dinner,” says pediatrician Marianne Neifert, MD, a mother of five and author of Dr. Mom's Parenting Guide: Common-Sense Guidance for the Life of Your Child . As for nutrition, just one serving of peanut butter (2 tablespoons) provides:

  • 8 g protein
  • 2 g fiber
  • 10% of the USDA Reference Daily Intake (RDI) of vitamin E and 12% of the RDI of magnesium
  • 0 g cholesterol
  • 0 g trans-fats
